Debbie Dunbar

Debbie Dunbar

Debbie Dunbar is a painter specialising in oils. She graduated from University with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration in 1983 and has worked in the arts ever since.

Debbie’s work depicts a variety of subjects, she is fascinated and inspired by so many things and finds it impossible to limit her work to a single subject from still life to landscape; people to animals. There is however a strong theme running through her work that binds it all together; Her use of vibrant oil paint as her chosen medium and an obsession with portraying light, and how it affects both the mood and the narrative of the subject. She exhibits nationally, and has work in collections worldwide. She was promoted to Full Membership of the Society of Equestrian Artists in 2015 and is a Friend Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI)

PERSONAL STATEMENT

"I can’t remember a time when I was not drawing or painting, and I can’t ever imagine a time when I will not be painting. It is a compulsion for me. I work in traditional oils both in the studio and ‘en plein air’ "
