Julie Davis

Julie Davis graduated with a Masters in Art and Art History from Aberystwyth School of Art, has exhibited in the UK and Europe, and until recently taught drawing and painting for the Open College of the Arts. She has completed a number of notable portraits commissions, was selected for the Wales Portrait Award in 2008.

Whilst she is primarily a figurative/portrait artist using traditional painting techniques, her subject matter and style can be eclectic.  As well as human subjects, she has been producing ‘portraits’ of objects and creatures that are often overlooked, but may be the subject of emotion, memory and nostalgia.

She is also interested in the interaction of surface and background, and has recently been exploring mixed media techniques and incorporating poetry and other text into her work.
