Become a Member

This is an opportunity to become involved in a supportive exhibiting environment with long term goals to promote your work, expand individual practices, promote high quality visual arts in the community and sell directly to the public.

To become a member there are two stages: First email the gallery at gallery@kingstreetgallery.co.uk
with a representative sample of your current work, about 6 images. If we are interested in seeing your work, you will be invited to the second stage interview.

This will involve attending one of our monthly meetings with a representative sample of your current work. You will be asked to make a short presentation about your work, answer any questions we may have and be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have of us.

If your application is successful, you will be assigned a mentor who will guide you through the process of being a member and your responsibilities including running the gallery on your own.

It is reminded that prospective members, if successful will be expected to work for one day a month (any day Mon-Sat 10am-5pm) and attend a monthly general meeting, usually the first Wednesday of the month. Being a co-operative, we actively encourage all members to help run the gallery and assist in some area of the business, be it maintenance, website admin, promotions or taking minutes.

It is a significant reponsibility that goes beyond showing your work in a high quality venue and working a day per month. You will also be requested to arrange a monthly standing order of £30 to cover your members rent and provide a cheque for 3 months rent in advance as a security. This £90 bond is refundable on ending your tenure at the gallery.

Any works sold will be at a commission rate of 20%, this is reviewed periodically and may change.

Good luck and we hope to hear from you soon!
