The Chate Room
Carmarthen Sketch Club Exhibition
7 - 19 Feb 2025

Carmarthen Sketch Club and Art Society gather amateur artists to meet and create art work together, to learn from each other, to share our common interest in art and to take part in local art events and exhibitions.

We are supported by artists at King Street Gallery and also by many artists throughout Carmarthenshire who run workshops with us or give demonstrations to support our learning.

At present we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at Pontargothi Hall, from September to June.

The sketch club has been running for over a 100 years. It was started originally by Miss Edith M Lloyd (later Lodwick) and Miss Gwen Galloway in the 1920s and in the 1950s the club restarted after the second world war with the support of Dr John Crane and many keen artists in Carmarthen.

Open Art Competition for 2025

We are delighted to launch our new Open Art Competition for 2025 themed ‘Awakening’ which is now moved to a new time in the year - March. The application deadline will be 28 February 2025. This is sure to be a wonderful source of inspiration to new and established artists.
