Helen Minghella
Hello, my name is Helen Minghella, and I am an abstract artist, writer, and mum of one. I’ve been splashing paint around for almost 20 years, mostly acrylics on canvas, with the occasional detour into texture and mixed media. My art style shapeshifts with my mood, and I hardly ever plan my paintings, they just evolve moment to moment. Knowing when to stop can be tricky, but usually the canvas tells me when to stop.
Home is the Carmarthenshire countryside, where peace and quiet are my favourite collaborators. Nature keeps me company – a curious but shy hare has taken up residence under my shed (rent-free, of course) and a flamboyant male pheasant turns up occasionally, strutting about like he owns the place.
When I’m not painting, I’m writing, exploring themes like emotion, love, heartbreak, and that elusive space between control and total surrender.
If you like art that feels alive, layered, textural, and a little bit wild, then I’m the artist for you!
