Jeanne Marshall

I am an abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media. My work is inspired by the natural landscape and seascape around me mainly in South Wales. Recently I have also become interested in the sky and the elements.  My aim is not to paint what I see but to capture the emotion and memory of what I feel when observing the world around me. Colour is a very important part of my paintings, but I also work with texture and line, building up layers to create depth and to bring the painting alive on the panel or canvas.

I do have a point of reference when I start painting, but don’t use sketchbooks or photographs. It is all about memories and what the subject matter means to me. The canvas is a mirror reflecting back my personal experience of a moment in time.
