Kate Kelly

I specialise in painting colourful skies stretching over coastal headlands with reflections in the sea and wet sands - inspired by my life in Pembrokeshire.

My style is bold, expressive, full of movement, shape and texture.

I have a passion for colour and use this to express feelings in my work.

Hues are like threads in the landscape, dipping in and out, interlocked and inter-woven. Sometimes the bold colours are replaced with ribbon gauzes that layer with white organdy passages that can end in frayed textural edges.

Coastal living is the foundation of my work - whether it be stormy seas, dramatic light and shadow, stretching vistas to the horizon or just my fascination with the natural edges between land and sea.
