Graham Parker’s paintings explore relationships between land, sea and sky. He captures the fascination that endures in coastal places - their tranquillity, sense of space and almost numinous presence of sea, land and sky. We can see but never reach the horizon’s beguiling vanishing point. His aimas a painter is to guide the viewer into and beyond this magical space, where particles of light and colour both merge and sparkle.

My work is a dialogue with clay, slips, marks, and textures. Using flat earthenware slabs, I shape vessels that tell stories rooted in the landscape and it's history. Each piece is crafted slowly, formed only when the clay feels ready. The surface is a canvas, painted with lines, colours, and shapes that create a visual language. Jagged cliffs, rough seas, sand ripples, and trees are embedded in the clay, while hedgerows provide tools for imprinting textures and forms. These details capture the landscape’s physicality, reflecting the dynamic relationship between land and sea. Through this process, I explore clay’s strength and fragility, mirroring the resilience and vulnerability of the natural world.
